send my application forms to?
Please send your application documents to the coordination
and contact point in Milwaukee.
They will take care of the rest of the application procedure.
Do students have the
opportunity to choose where they would like to be placed?
Are internships matched to areas of study?
Usually the process runs as follows:
According to your CV and your Letter of Motivation we check
what kind of placement meets your demands (and the demands
of your study course) best. Then we check with potential host
organisations, if your qualification meets their requirements.
If both sets of requirements are matched we send you one or
more offers. Then you can decide which one suits you best.
However if you rather prefer to search for a placement yourself
(using our information services at www.practical-training.de),
this would also be possible. If you choose this way, please
make sure that your placement is located in the state of Hessen
so that you can benefit from our Hessen support network.
Does the program find
housing or do students do that themselves?
The Coordination and Contact Point Fulda will find housing
for you.
How much does it cost?
The services you get from the Hessen/Wisconsin exchange program
are paid by the state of Wisconsin and by the state of Hessen,
i.e. you just pay your usual tuition at your university. The
costs of housing depends very much on the region you are staying
in Hessen and the category/quality you prefer. To give you
just two examples: a single room with shared bathroom and
kitchen with cleaning service once a week would cost in Fulda
490 Euros per month (holiday house standard). A single room
in a "Wohngemeinschaft", shared students flat, would
start in Fulda with approx. 150 Euro per month (basic "student
standard").
Is it possible to do
the internship part-time?
Because of work permit restrictions, part-time internships
are unfortunately not possible.
Is the internship a
paid position?
This is subject of negotiation between you and your host organisation
and depends very much on your qualification and the length
of your stay (and the type of your host organisation, e.g.
internships at non-profit organisations are usually unpaid).
However a typical remuneration for a 3 month internship in
Germany would be arround 200-250 Euro per month.
What types of positions
are available?
We cooperate with all universities in Hessen (which might
e.g. offer internships in research projects) and a number
of associations and companies, so that we can offer a wide
variety of internships.
When does the summer
internship start and end?
You give us the dates you are available and we will try to
arrange the internship according to your dates. |
